The Island of Pantelleria
The magical Island of Pantelleria stands off the south west coast of Sicily, has only 9000 inhabitants, and is a natural wonderland with pristine waters and two extinct volcanos, and a coastline of calm inlets waiting to be explored. The island is a haven for international stars and for 30 years Giorgio Armani has spent his summer vacation here. Gabriele Garcia Marquez wrote of Pantelleria:
"there is no other place on earth that makes you think of the moon than Pantelleria, but Pantelleria is more beautiful...the tranquil sea and the white washed houses from which, during the calm evenings you can see the light houses of Africa winking in the distance..."
